I just got the Samsung Gear S2 and it's the best-looking round watch out there. The rotating-bezel on the watch is the best hardware feature of any watch. Rotating the bezel on the watch makes navigating fun. It makes the Apple Watch rotating crown look like old tech.
If you go into any fancy store, you'll see nearly all the watches are round. In fact, if you go into Walmart, you'll see all the watches are round. The only squared watches are the ones with a calculator. If you don't mind being called a nerd, then a square watch is okay for you. I also own the Samsung Gear 2. (with the camera).
I was expecting Apple Watch v1 to be a round watch, but that didn't happen. And the reason why Apple didn't release a round watch is because developing apps for a round watch is way more difficult than a square watch. Maybe Apple intentionally created a square watch to get more developers onboard to making the apps for their ecosystem.
